2005 Chevy Cavalier Wheel hubs keep going out?
Hello
In September I took my car into the dealer because I thought my CV joint was going out cus when I would turn with bends in the road at 30-45 I would get a popping sound.
They told me it was the wheel hubs, and fixed it, bam no more noise.
Now its early February now, and about 4000 miles later, and that noise is back but the same volume is now happening when I am going straight, and when I have a bend the road its really really loud.
I asked the dealer what could be going on, they tried to blame my wheels. I replaced the stock steel 14" with 16" alloy. But Ive had those for 2 years now. The only thing I replaced between getting the new hubs on, was my rotors and pads. I went to high durability rotors, and ceramic pads(yay no more break dust).
Any ideas to why my car is going through hubs every 4k miles? It seems kinda insain!
Thanks for all the help in advance!
What kind of hubs are they using? We replace a lot of these. The oem ones aren't the best option believe it or not. Also there is a not so public recall on Federal-Mogual wheel bearings right now, maybe yours is covered in that recall. We get bad bearings all the time, so it isn't unsual that you may have got bad ones. Other than that we have had the best luck with Federal mougal wheel bearings, just make sure it is a new one that isn't involved in the recall.
