Guitar Pickup Question?
I want to change the pickups in my Les Paul out and I've narrowed it down to two options, but I'm not quite sure which one I want to put in.

My only debate is that I don't think that the P-rail gives a true, full p-90 sound, but the P94 doesn't allow me to have Humbuckers too.
Your assumption on the Seymour Duncan not actually reproducing the old Gibson sound is correct and dead on.
Not that I don't like Seymour or DiMarzio LOL.
I have 2 old 1969 Les Paul Gibson so I know what I am talking about. One is stock and the other has DiMarzio on for the crunch and bite. One customer requested a job recently and we suggseted the Gibson P94 at the bridge. This would also give me a chance to compare with my stock Gibson. Surprisingly enough, the P94 came darn close (95%) , if not the actual ture sound, of the stock mini-humbuckers.
Your choice. Again, Seymour are cool and I use them often even on my old 1962 Strat. But, if you want to get that rare '69 sound, and the TRUE P-90 sound, Gibson P94 is the real deal. How can you go wrong when they are the actual creators of those original pickup ? They are closer to the real sound that P-90 Seymour by a wide margin.
And as for your last part of the statement that P-94 doesn't allow you to have humbuckers is false. I don't get that part. You can combine any pickups , even Gibson and Fender. The deal lies in the pots and Gibson use 500k pots vs Fender which use 250k pots. Still, both get be had and work properly together.
