i need help with the drums!!?
hi
im in percussion
my main instrument is snare and crash cymbals
im about to transfer to a new school in VA
and in the (marching) band i want to play the tenor drums.
but i don't know the 1st thing about the tenor drums
andmy music teacher down here kinda....
*cough* hates me *cough*
any websites that i could learn how to play them?
any video instructional's?
help!
the band director at the school i transfered to alread assured me a spot on the tenor drums =]
so i guess ill just wait for the other tenors to teach meh
First of all, just RELAX! You haven't even gotten to the new school yet and you're already freaking out. Maybe they won't need tenor drummers and you'll be on snare or bass. My grandpa told me many times "It is useless to worry about that which you cannot change. And if you can change it, why the hell would you worry about it?" In other words, stop stressing over the change of schools. Take things as they come and deal with them at that point.
Just as you learned to play snare you can also learn to play tenor drums. Learn to read the notation and then work out a sticking that will produce the desired results. Work on your rudiments, precision, and time, regardless. That will help you no matter what drum you play. Relax and have fun playing music, and just keep practicing and improving your skills.
