Better Playing Instructional
I want to learn to play the Saxaphone but know nothing about them and don't want to spend alot of the first 1?
I would like a little info on what to look for when purchasing a Saxaphone and any guide books. I don't want to spend alot on the instrument, just a good one that I can use to learn to play. And if anyone knows of any good beginners instructional guides. Thanks!
If your just beginning, I would recommend renting a sax rather than buying one. Most music stores in your area will rent instruments to you or know someone who does. It's a lot cheaper than buying one, and will give you a few months time to make sure you like the instrument before you decide to buy. As with all instruments, the more expensive the better the quality. Which also means better tone. If you do decide to buy one, go for moderately priced over cheap because the tone will be better and thus you will sound much better when playing. Also, the essential elements books are great teaching books. They have all the keys as well as a picture next to the note showing you which buttons to compress for that specific note. I've been playing the oboe for 10 years or so and originally taught myself using those books, then got a teacher.
