How am I doing for 6 months of playing electric guitar?
Ok, I've been playing electric guitar for 6 months. I can play "Agape" from For Today, "Ready for the Fight" from For Today, and almost "Saul of Tarsus" from For Today. I play a strat and can do sweeps (Sweep arpeggios) easy. I can also play "Crazy Train" by Ozzy Osbourne. How am I doing for half a year of playing? And what else would you recommend I learn next?
Not to lecture, but remember...you will never be a good lead guitarist until you are first a good rhythm guitarist. Do not neglect this very important and often over looked aspect of being a complete musician.
I'm not very familiar with your song choices, but I always recommend studying the Ventures. Each song is an encyclopedia of guitar. YouTube the Ventures, and for some real inspiration, check out The Hellecasters on YouTube.
