Male Plug
Will a DVI-D (Male) plug into a DVI-I (Female)?
The reason I'm asking is because I'm upgrading my computer, and all the 8800GT video cards I've looked at have DVI-I ports, and all the LCD Monitors I've looked at have DVI-D ports. In this case, would a DVI-D be able to hook into the back of the monitor, and into a DVI-I port? It seems like it might because a DVI-D (Male) only has the one thing in the middle, and it seems like maybe you could plug that into the DVI-I (Female), and leave the other holes in the DVI-I empty. Or would that not work? Why can't I find a monitor and a video card that both have DVI-I or DVI-D? It seems like all monitors are DVI-I, and all video cards are DVI-D. And I can't find an adapter for DVI-I (Male) to DVI-D (Female), except on Ebay.

That will be fine, as DVI-I can transmit both analogue and digtal signals, and your DVI-D port can (only) recieve digtal signals. Your graphics card wll have no trouble connecting to DVI-A (analogue) monitors either, but you may only connect DVI-I or DVI-D inputs to your monitor
